I'm intrigued, Colin. How does this system work?

Obviously it does work, and has done so for donkey's years, but I would have thought that if the thread forms are mismatched, then the first time the adjuster was wound into the rocker arms then either the male thread or the female thread or both would be damaged?

Just a high resistance between the thread forms I guess, perhaps the most strange thing is even when you unscrew them to widen the valve clearance the things do not work loose. As you say Ford have built millions of units with this system and its not a fail item I have ever heard of.

It just goes to show that sometimes, the KISS principle works best..

I have them on my pre-crossflow 1500 because the old type was not available any more when I had to completely rebuild the engine 7 years ago (a valve dropped and played havoc). I don't like them because in my case they usually get loose after approx. 2000 mls. So valve clatter is always there. I wonder if the old type would be available again.
