Gaydon Reserve Collection

I couldn't resist posting a few photographs of the reserve collection. If only they had pushed on with the Road Rover, they could have had created the 4x4 SUV market years before the Japanese.

Err, they did, didn't they? I don't recall any Japanese 4x4 SUVs predating the Range Rover?

Depends what one describes as the first SUV, I suppose, but for me it was the Toyota Land Cruiser station wagon released in the early sixties and already sold globally by the time the Range Rover was released.

Oh, OK. I was thinking of the early Land Cruisers as being the equivalent of Land Rover station wagons.
