Some pictures taken yesterday at the Meilenwerk in Düsseldorf

I was under the impression that modifications could only invalidate manufacturer warranty if it could be proven that the modifications caused the failure.

Even considering the above, superchargers do not overly stress engines and the Ford V6 is both tuneable and durable, so I think there is little to nowt to worry over. All in my humble opinion and not suggesting that anyone tampers with their warranty without due consideration.

Sounds like a hoot to me. Would love to try it out

If the situation is that the supercharging etc is not part of the original car as offered for sale but is an'add on' ( as in the case of the Sport) then fine, you pays your money and takes your choice and it is perfectly understandable that no warranty is offered

On my reading of the original post, this is a new car, listed ( or to be listed) by the Morgan Motor Company in a form which has been built by them and an 'in-house,' wholly owned tuning company and there IS no Engine Warranty in the first place, so the best that a buyer can do is fall back on his or her statutory rights which will almost inevitably mean litigation in many instances.

Ok, it's possible to argue that past history shows that in many cases the Factory have shown large amounts of goodwill and might, in a similar way, look at any case of engine blow up on its merits, but if they are prepared to do that, then there is little point in not giving a warranty in the first place.

There is also another aspect to this. Many of these 'statutory comebacks' are against the dealer/supplier, not the manufacturer, so a dealer who supplied a car could find an irate customer chasing him ( perhap through the courts), have to do all the remedial work at his own cost and then have no fallback against the Factory to recoup his expenditure!

I'd agree in part with your comments on the Ford V6 but again, there is a limit to how far it can be pushed - see some of the Nobles, for instance.

So, overall, I remain to be convinced. A shame, because as a number of us have agreed, it could be great to drive! As I said before, if I'm reading this wrong, then my comments should be disregrarded

I've just spoken with Steve Morris at the factory and here are some basic details, with hope it will help clear up any misunderstandings.

1) The supercharger will be part of an official upgrade
2) It will be a dealer-fit option (although, only certain dealerships may be able to offer the upgrade; however, this is not written in stone and will be confirmed asap).
3) The standard car warranty will remain (body, corrosion, trim, etc)
4) The warranty of the engine and supercharger is yet to be determined; HOWEVER, I will be receiving a Warranty Statement imminently and will post it as soon as I have it.

Needless to say, Morgan Motor Company want to provide the best service to customers and I am sure the Warranty Statement will address this.

Personally, I can understand them being cautious on this point because covering claims which have arisen due to abuse of the product isn't sensible; therefore, they need to protect the customer and themselves.

As some people know, I have a Shelby Mustang and while the Ford warranty isn't invalidated by the conversion, they can choose to deny a claim if the problem has been caused by mistreatment of the car. A perfect example of this is someone over revving the engine on a track day and then trying to claim failure was caused by the conversion.

I'll post up more as and when I receive it from the factory.

Thanks Simon, that gives a very clear picture. Given those facts, then IMHO the Factory's position is both sensible and fair. It is also in line with( and in fact better in some respects than) most other performance car manufacturers

Also, good on them for being prepared to come back so quickly with a clarification

Yes, it is Steve's Roadster.

GLLHG, Brabus provides it's own warranty on their cars. Owners don't need to worry.

Yes, they do- I used it about two years ago and they were very good to deal with.
