Should I ?

Buy this bike?

I rode it today.
It is everything I wanted my 2004 Thruxton to be but it never was...
Looks like a Thruxton should, especially the tank. I love the fake Amal carbs.
Not so obvious are the alloy wheel rims and alloy swing arm.

The bike has modern electronics, including the traction control, ABS and three traction/stability modes, rain, street and track.

Then the modern components...

USD Showa ?
Ohlins piggy-back rear shocks?
Brembo front discs and pads?

All a bit too modern? I don't think so....and they transform the bike. The ride is supple, it corners and turns in more like a sports bike...

Anyway after 5 years away from bikes it was an absolute delight to be back on 2 wheels. I've not had so much fun for a while. I love Tarka, but it is still a car....

I stopped riding in 2013 because of neck/back problems: these seem to be resolved. So, I'm very, very tempted to return to biking.

Advice please!

One of the things I love about it, other than the obsessively PC Owners manual with its persistent warnings about accidents and death, is the attention to period detail. Take a close look at the photo at the top of this column...

1. The engine, though water cooled, looks as if it is air cooled.
2. There is a circular plate where the contact braker was on a T120.
3. The fuel injection is hidden behind really good but false Amal Monoblock Carbs and pancake air filters, even down the position of float chamber screws and a brass, knurled ring on the top of the slide housing.
4. The fuel tank looks like a Dunstall tank, complete with a fuel cap cover that looks like a Monza cap.

It is all window dressing, but I like it, why? It makes me smile.

I also like the 42mm Showa USD front forks, the Ohlins rear suspension, both with adjustment for pre-load, damping and rebound, plus the Brembo radial 4 pot calipers which really work.

It is a 2 wheeled Plus 8.... wine

This is a Morgan Forum, so I'll shut up about it now. All that needs to be said is "THANKS" for all the support and positive direction.

well done Peter ; I'm guessing you are 'pleased' to be back biking..... laugh2

Far from keeping quiet, we now need to see some photographs of the actual machine thumbs

Quite agree James smile

Yesterday, trundling down the M5 from Chatea Impney in the tinny box, I was passed by a pair of 02 plate Bonnies who peeled off at Worcester South. Felt quite jealous for a moment or two. Had I been in the 4/4 I'd have given a half wave smile
