I just remembered that I own an ORANGE and white 1971 VW Bus, and it's a really gaudy shade of orange too. It was our main family car from 1979-85, and it's currently in my barn waiting to be converted to an electric motor. However, it will be re-painted sky-blue and with at least one peace sign.
I hereby eat crow.

If I remember correctly it wasn’t painted that orange but was wrapped, presumably so that it could revert to something more mainstream after the centenary celebrations.

It very well could have a been a wrap. I can't tell, even looking at the other detailed pictures of the car. But, it certainly caught my eye . . .

Thank you, Steve. Maybe now I won't have any more nightmares about Snidely Whiplash spraying orange paint on silver Morgans.
