It is in fact owned and raced by a Morgan owner, Tony Lees - and he's back in Angouleme racing again today (after hitting the wall last year).

Quote:
It was built from a 1913 Vauxhall D-type chassis and gearbox, an A-type radiator and a 1918 WW1 Hispano-Suiza Aero engine out of an SE5A or French SPAD fighter.
We had it on John Baldwin's rolling road last year - 300BHP at 1800 rpm and "immeasurable" torque (around 700 lb/ft).
The combination of the flat torque curve, high CoG, skinnny straight-sided tyres and no brakes on the front axle makes for an entertaining drive...

He won the handicap race in this lovely car at the Bentley Driver Day, Silverstone this year. Even Tony seemed surprised. Its like driving in an armchair at the top of a step ladder but it goes like the proverbial. cozychair
