Some images of the upcoming Morgan 2011 3-Wheeler, which is to be shown at the next Geneva Motorshow.

The early cars are over 50 years old. Whilst I would wish this car to reflect the original MTW heritage I still want a new car?

As for the talk about Harleys, vs Moto Guzzi's I haven't really got any experience of either. However, I have always coveted a Harley, as have many non bikers, but never a Moto Guzzi.

Maybe that has a lot to do with it?

I also guess, as has been aluded to, the NA market will be far bigger than the Italian one?

ETA I guess none of us really knows about availability or fit either whilst commenting from the comfort of our armchairs

I was merely pointing out that the originals had little instrumentation and was curious as to the reasoning about "non-resemblance of the interior" and the implication that 6 round instruments in a wooden dash would make it so. How many originals (V-twins) had a "nice wooden dash", or 6 instruments?

Anyway, as a modern, I'd want to know what was going on up front too - though I'm not sure even the aftermarket Harley boys made things like oil pressure / temperature gauges... Not aware of anything like that on a modern HD. Voltmeter/Ammeter is easy enough to sort, fuel gauge too (though if it's from an HD tank treat it with some scepticism - voice of experience! ).

A sequential gearshift might have been nice though...

What a "big bang"!

Despite far too "modern" instruments & possibly missing MORGAN-worth (sliding pillar-) front layout:

i´m afraid (if ever affordable..) i MUST have one soon!

With respect to the instruments, I believe we have to consider that this is a CAD image, not a photograph; therefore, the interior is subject to change.

As mentioned previously, Morgan are using various influences to shape the 2011 Threewheeler and one influence is aviation. One suggestion was a Bell & Ross style instrument speedo and tach; which I for one believe would look excellent.

As for recreating the original 3-Wheeler, personally I would like to see an updated version of the original, not a copy. Morgan has learned a lot in 100-years and technology and design have moved on - blending the old with the new is what makes Morgans wonderful. A Threewheeler that uses heritage as the foundation but brings it into the year 2011 is what I am hoping for.

I'm not so much the Threewheeler enthusiast. ...but the sound...

2011... Yes, but they are going to use an engine from HD???

I hope the instruments will be marinised... (before they become marinated in typical UK weather )

to fully appreciate the new design, an 6 speed automatic gear box, coupled to a shaft drive similar as used in many motor cycles today, is probably a must?

A dip stick could also be provided in the fuel tank filler cap, then the need for one of those new fangled gauges spoiling a nice wooden dash would removed!

Bull nosed Morris's had a water temp gauge displayed immediately above the radiator on the bonnet....yes they did and that would mean another unsightly gauge was removed from the "nice wooden dash"

It would make it appeal to most Americans (the market) and make an excellent weekend driver...but with the proviso that it be made in a super wide format to accommodate the usually larger Americans that seem evident these-days.
(Rather like wide bodied morgans verses the narrow bodied ones)

The roll bars behind the seats would make a sensible attachment point for a chain and padlock when left in dark alleys and car-parks!

Not many automatic gearboxes on motorcycles Peter - though plenty on the scooter / commuter thingies. Shaft drive is listed on the specs.

Fuel dipstick - that would shock BMW . I once borrowed the MTWC's F4 for a weekend - used a short piece of bamboo to dip the fuel - a reminder of the old days of dipping tanks on ships (though not with a length of bamboo!).

Water temp gauge - not a lot of use on a Harley engine, unless you want to know the temp of the water falling from the clouds... Oil temp on the other hand...

Wide bodied - hmmm I'll keep quiet on this one but most of the wide body on the 4 wheelers is outside the cabin anyway, that extra couple of inches inside between my '76 and '98 didn't make a great deal of difference... I believe the 4 seaters are wider at the front of the cabin though.

Security - I can just see someone trying to padlock their car to the bicycle racks springing up all over town! Suppose they could be handy for padlocking flying jackets, helmets for rainy days etc. into the car - save carrying them around at events...

Keep going Peter, I'm sure some ideas will filter through - to the aftermarket sector if nowhere else!
