Air Filter Box
The air filter of the roadster seems to collect relatively hot air, with an opening right above the gear box and in short distance to the manifold. Indeed the temperature is 30°C above ambient level with spirited driving in 3rd gear. The temperature in the area on the right side of the air filter is lower, especially after removing the part of the sealing underneath the last 4-5 louvres. So I opened the box on the right side and closed the old opening. The incoming is now only 15°C above ambient temperature.

Stonehagen, a simply mod could be John Taylor’s bonnet extensions, they create an opening at the rear of the bonnet, with more airflow. I have them and I think it helps airflow to the itg filter I have on my 3.0 L roadster. Check http://www.morganhoods.com/id69.htmlCheers, Bert Looks good, I will try that next weekend!

Some interesting thoughts here.....
It is important to have the intake air as thick and cold as possible (but not to cause icing)
We have the T16 Rover 2ltr standard car and have recently bound the librands exhauxt manifold stainless pipes with titanium lava rock wool
This achieves 2 points
it reduces under bonnet temperature so that the air intake is cooler
It ensures the gases exiting the engine are thinner and reduces back pressure.
I do like the ITG system and it appears you have an air intake ABOVE the radiator, this allows cool air from the intake and possibly a 'ram air' effect?
It looks like it would fit the T16 Rover
The car after adding the lagging to the manifold is much more responsive at low revs and does not get the hesiation while the MEMS ECU tries to adjust for hot hot hot when we stop at a junction after giving it some welly...

Craig great seeing the fitting of the ITG and air intake, notice its a metal scoop above the radiator, surely the metal scoop gets heated by the radiator, I think at parked /very slow speeds you'll be getting hot air into the induction?
Williams must have tested it? Do you have lagging on your exhausts as all that itg pipe work will store heat and serve to warm the air... until you get moving and colder air comes in?

I'm not sure about the metal scoop heating by the radiator, it certainly goes ok, so I'm sure Williams must have tested this. is this the lagging you are referring too / (image taken before new induction installed)

 Just for information..I used 58' of 2" lagging on my +4 Supersports The jubilee clips were replaced with correct ss fasteners when all was in place

Has anyone lagged the manifolds on a series 1 Roadster?
I've thought about it but have been unable to identify any benefits since I have the cold air duct to the NS louvers.

I thought about it, but access is tight & I recon you'd have to grow a lot of skin back by the time you'd finished
I did it on my F Type some years ago and it's not a pleasant job, but that was to cure fuel vapour locking
