Finally saw one! 30 years ago, I lusted after one of these, never had enough money to buy one and they weren’t popular so they disappeared from memory.

Should have silver wheels though.

Green Cloverleaf, please!

We had one, a Green Cloverleaf, in white, from 1986 until 1997.
Over 100,000 miles, no rust, only mechanical failure was a water pump.
It just got tired and small things started to go wrong.
A super family hatchback.
Quick, fun to drive, made us smile. It was a car you just wanted to drive it like you stole it...

Although it had the badge on the boot, I’m not certain that really is a green cloverleaf version, one of the features I liked was the tennis racket headrests, that one didn’t have them.
I took the pictures yesterday In Anstruther, famous for fish and chips, not so much Italian flair.

We had on in Holland. Dark green. Never had an issue but the boss didn't like it.

I sent away for the brochure at the age of sixteen, but it was always a pipe dream and I never actually saw one, there were a few 75s and old Alfasuds. My son has inherited the same fascination, eBay keeps informing me, the old banger Alfa I, (he), was looking at is re-listed

I used to borrow my mother's one... fun to drive briskly (I'd have been 18-19 ;-) ) , but the front end could lose grip suddenly and "understeer" by taking a hop... perhaps not as well sorted as it could have been.

There has been enormous progress...

There is a set of corners on the A354 between Blandford and Salisbury that for most of the last 40 years I've used as a reference for the cornering ability of the cars I've owned.

The Alfa 33 felt it was at its limit at 50, the Mk2 Caviller was clearly uncomfortable at the same speed. The Peugot 405 was OK at 55 to 60.
Tarka is fine at 65 and the AMG 35? At close to 80 it simply ignored the corners.

Modern suspension, tyres, computer supported traction control and all wheel drive, plus 304bhp and 300 ft lbs of torque from 2350 rpm all work together to deliver effortless cornering.

You’re right about that,Peter, my VW people Carrier can whing round corners like a race car, but in its day the Alfasud must have been a tidy handler, it was the most popular car for the hot saloons category at the Crimond stock cars.

We had a Sud Sprint in 78 and even to this day the boss & I look back on it as one of the most enjoyable cars we’ve had, it certainly wasn’t an investment and the rust was terrible but we had it four years and was a joy to drive and sounded great. The dimensions were much the same as a MGB but there was much more room with a couple of decent back seats which had two kids seats attached by the time we traded it in. I still have a soft spot for Alfa.
