Custom made storage box for luggage rack

Hello Together

I know we all love this leather suitcase for the luggage but if you make a road trip sometimes you will leave your baggage in the car and have the possibility to lock it. Searched quite a long time for a solution but didn't find one. Therefore I buy a custom made aluminium box with the dimensions 800x500x250mm and a door lock. Painted it in car colour and mounted it with two wood bars on the luggage rack. Because we have to take the wheelchair from my girlfriend with us I added aluminium profiles on top of the cover. Not so nice to view but it protects the cover and allows me to secure the wheelchair very quickly.

The box cost me about 450€ for the box itself 270€ for the painting and some bucks for the wood and the screws.

Just want to let you know if someone searches for a similar solution

This looks very professional and fit for purpose. I have thought about a similar solution, but not executed.
Question, what about the 3rd brake light, sorry if I missed that.

Welcome to TM René!

A great and above all practical solution that you have there! It gives a Morgan a trunk.

Doesn't your Roadster have a 3rd brake light?

Nice idea, I had never thought of buying an aluminium box and modifying it like that 👍🏻

I like that a lot! I thought about getting a Hills Alive Mogbox and painting itbody colour but thought it looked a bit bulky, your option looks much more in proportion Rene’ nice job thumbs

Hi
The car had a 3rd brake light. This round bulb over the spare wheel. Luckily here in Switzerland, this is optional and removed it a few days after I bought the car. Elsewhere it was not possible to attach the wheelchair on the luggage rack even without the box. I have no worries about this missing light. But it would also be no big thing to mount a LED strip at the rear of the box. Maybe in the small gap under the cover.
