Everything bolted, engine runs and i have a clutch ! … But a water leak. Some heated part below the throttle body....must look what that is and gaskets … must be due manipulation , got the inlet manifold aside with those small water hoses connected. But i do see some old residue from leaking ... Pitty , as tomorrow nice weather for a test drive... as we don't drive it in winter temp's perhaps i can bypass that part ?? ( Rover M16 )

bypassed the heating element on the throttle body , did a test run yesterday and all seems fine . Car runs strong as before. Searches the net for that part but didn't find anything. I can understand heating carb's ( fuel evaporation ) but a throttle body ?? Never seen it on so many cars...

It can only be to stop icing. I've only ever had icing on one car, my Gilbern Invader.
It was self correcting, because at speed, the power would suddenly fall away, causing a steady reduction in speed. As the speed reduced the ice melted and normal running resumed until the next time.
Only in winter.

Our Hillman Imp did exactly the same thing, especially if holding a steady 50 to 60 mph!

indeed gentlemen, i once have seen it on my Porsche 911 with 2 triple Webers. Ice under the carbs. Sadly , 40 years ago Perhaps some emissions ad on , and a heritage Morgan took over from the 800 series Rover's engine M16 , as it is a part of the throttle body. ?
