Plus 4, narrow body, 1 off

It’s my 1st post so sorry if I mess up. This is apparently the only one they made, ready for Goodwood 2018 but never went into production due to homolgation changes. It’s a plus 4 with the 2 ltr gdi, tweaked to 180hp and with a sports exhaust...all family normal but with a narrow body and skinny wheels. It’s my first mog, dads got one , but ever since leaving school in Malvern 25+ yrs ago I’ve always wanted one. Within the first fortnight we were on a road trip in Spain and France..all good fun.

If that's the William's car it may be the only one the factory built new, but there are others. The narrow Plus 4 ran from the Duratec engined 75th Anniversary cars in 2012 through until maybe 2016. I wanted a narrow bodied Plus 4 then, and was told the factory were no longer building them. I the end, they relented and built me one, which I converted with the AR Sports manifold and exhaust, and ECU flash in November.
So there are at least two to that spec, but one of the rarest models... grin2

The way I understand it they built a selection for the 75th anniversary, but they were labelled as 4/4 75th’s. This was built to take over from the 4/4 but they couldn’t get full homologation for it...

So the plus 4 narrow body that Sib and DW have are extremely rare.

Thanks. If yours is like this then Its good to know. I certainly wasn’t attracted to it by its rarity but this is the spec and it may, or may not, be interesting to some to know how many are out there like this:

1 of 1 EVER MADE!!! Williams are honoured to offer this absolutely stunning 2018 Morgan Plus 4, 2.0 GDI Narrow Body, finished in Porsche Heron Grey over Cuba Brown leather trim. Due to be released for Goodwood Revival, this car started life as the potential replacement for the 4/4 1.6 Sigma, which ceased production in 2018 due to changes in emissions laws. However, due to homologation issues, Morgan decided to stop the project and therefore, this is the ONLY vehicle built of its kind using the new Plus 4 2.0 GDI engine and 4/4 narrow body wings and wheels. This truly is a stunning car to behold and also comes with the added benefit of a Clubsport Re-Map and full sports exhaust system, including 4 branch manifold from the factory. Producing around 180BHP, this is really a true sports car for British sports car enthusiasts and you will never see another one of these produced from the factory,

I have since put SSL suspension up front along with Cibie LED driving lights (both superb by the way) and a smaller Moto wheel as I find it easier to get in and out , I’m 6’3. A few strategically placed pieces of foam Around the door tops help keep out some of the draughty on the Cold days . It’s all good and if anyone else has this spec , which I hope there is out there, I trust you’re enjoying it too.

For the record my views on the new/trad chassis are that as long as they still look like a Morgan with hand shaped curves in all the right places, still have a manual box option and a throaty sound, I don’t mind if they have ABS, bonded chassis, better heaters etc etc. ... they will still be a Morgan and good luck to them. There will still be plenty to tinker with, rarity, wind in your hair, drivability and fun !

Sib you have a wonderful car and I like the colour combination very much. Your car had attracted my attention as long as I could see the Williams advertising re her. I would have been very! tempted to buy her if she was a LHD. Congrats! A really good choice.

I think the Plus 4 featured in the excellent book “Making of a Morgan” was a narrow bodied car, LHD.

Great car SIb and unique because of its great colour combination and GDi engine.

Craig is correct, the 2.0L Duratec engined 75th anniversary was named a 4/4 (not a Plus 4) and it was produced in 2011/12 to mark 75 years of 4/4 production from 1936

The Morgan 4/4 75th Anniversary Edition came in a choice of three color options - Black, Red, and White - With a matte black longitudinal stripe with "4/4 75th" inscribed on it and a black grille.
Other unique details of the 4/4 75th Anniversary Edition include round mirrors, 5 black 15" spoke wheels, black leather with perforated centre pleats, a wood Moto Lita steering wheel and Tawny Ash wood dashboard. Rutters state 75 were produced and had one for sale recently in BRG. The 2012 Geneva show 75th Anniversary 4/4 was green. According to Life's Motors, only 31 2.0L 75th Anniversary 4/4 were produced. (odd number I know, maybe Morgan didn't achieve their target of 75 cars) Cost new incidentally was £38,750 ex works.
