Hot off the producation line, the pre-production Plus Four SS was out over the weekend at Oulton Park and Shelsley Walsh.

It certainly created a lot of interest and especially the fine detailing that makes this a special model. Sorry about the number of images showing the dashboard but it really is a work of art.

Oh, and the car goes quite well too!

It will be at Donnington at the end of the month.

Good photos Richard the dash does indeed look nice, though I'm not sure about the body colour. Maybe it would look better (for me at least) without the yellow highlights.

Great pics, the dash looks like pine rather than ash, pre production? I like the stick on front reg plate, the yellow highlights do nothing for me but I also like the vented Sport back panel

If only they would be EU-aproved...

The dashboard is nice; the steering wheel is lovely (and the car is nice, but I don't think I have to say that here) but still, when they, or someone, tries to get that old style, it usually ends in an anachronism (but then one could say that the whole trad series is that, but as most would know that have seen more than one trad, there are differences), an anachronism that can be more or less ugly. In worst case scenario it looks like a kit car. For example the indicator & light stalks doesn't look that nice. Apart from that, the overall impression is a quite nice looking Morgan. They've got lots of practice producing spare wheel panels, vented or not, now, since the introduction of the Sport series and the centenary pack and onwards. With no overriders, smooth wing tops (sans side lights) and a spare wheel panel there are of course several similarities with the centenary pack cars and the Sport series (but with many more differences under the hood etc.).

Love the colour ...I had an Abingdon prepped 1962 MGB in Speedwell Blue with a OEW hardtop.
I think the rest of the car looks plain silly with all those retro affectations ....however I'm sure there will be a queue of eager buyers .
Beauty is in the eye etc etc

I've had more than my fair share of opinions about this car posted. so I'll try and be low key here.
(i)It goes nowhere engineering wise ( and I say that recognising the VVTiengine)

(ii)I'm yet to be convinced that it is sorted and that they can sort it with a very limted production run ( 'Customer Development Car', here we come

(iii) Anyone looking for performance as a major factor won't be happy becuase the figure quoted are far far below what can be obtained with a similar set up in other low volume production cars ( eg Caterham)

(iv) When one takes away all the flashy bits, it's a lot of cash for not much car ( within the context of what it is)

I can quite see why, in economic terms, MMC have done this and, notwithstatnding my point (ii) above, I hope it works out and those people who buy it have a lot of pleasure. For me. no thanks

Surely ALL Morgans are Customer Development Cars.

I'm always wary of questions which begin with 'Surely' so to be a bit more exact:
It is reasonable to expect that in an 'established ' model there will be individual problems/foibles. If it is a new car then many of these will be car specific and be picked up at that stage

Other established models will have features which will have been picked up over time via complaints/ concerns expressed by a number ( often significant) of owners

Other models will have issues which by their low production run must necessarily affect- and so fall to be resolved by- a relatively small owner basis ( eg electrical interface problems in the Aeros)
Tp my way of thinking, it is this last feature which means a car is a 'customer development car'

Put simply, MMC are saying "Look, this is a new model. We are only building a relatively small number. Giben the size of our company, we can't fund the R&D so you take one, let the faults occur, bring it back to us and we'll sort i ton a reactive, ad hoc ad hominem basis"
