Morgan Plus Four Super Sports
Hot off the producation line, the pre-production Plus Four SS was out over the weekend at Oulton Park and Shelsley Walsh.
It certainly created a lot of interest and especially the fine detailing that makes this a special model. Sorry about the number of images showing the dashboard but it really is a work of art.
Oh, and the car goes quite well too!
It will be at Donnington at the end of the month.

...and all the Aero owners I know this is tempting fate, but it is over 20-years since either HO or I have had a puncture in this country. I really don't understand this obsession with having a spare wheel on a trad, unless it is for aesthetic reasons? No doubt someone will enlighten me...

Aeroman, I think it is just those of "advancing years" who remember when we drove around on barely reinforced sausage skins which were prone to explode with no notice whatever. Modern tyre construction and - slightly, if in Ireland - better roads mean that a spare is rarely used. As regards the +4ss I am very thankful that I prefer my 2009 standard version as the bank balance wouldn't tolerate another purchase right now!! Most of the bits are just cosmetic and if you like them - great -- I just am not struck. As to the engine then that is a different matter - if it produces the extra ponies low down the rev band then I might be tempted to raid the Aero Racing parts bin when it arrives -- otherwise I will remain much in love with the car as it is!! Cheers!

More torque at low to medium revs... Driveablility - always works for me (knowing my 4/4 is becoming asthmatic once 4.5 k arrives on the dial... ) Cheers,

errr.........the oil pressure and temp gauges are there in the normal place.
I do like the toggle switches...far nicer than the push buttons; I wonder how easy it is to change them.
Sorry combination of me looking at the small picture and being blind!!

The Escape V6 isn't a light engine and develops 226bhp. Morgan are quoting over 200bhp for the +4 SS 2.0 and as has been discussed on this thread, that isn't close to the top output of a tuned 2.0. Nope.. try nearer 300bhp! I'm currently working up a 200+bhp 1650cc engine to replace the one in my racer.

Saw it on the south bound carriageway of the M42 yesterday as I was heading north....looked really nice in the flesh.
The colour is perhaps not to everyone's taste, but on the other hand it's great to see something a bit different...you know, explores the possibilities. Great effort I say....Let's see more factory specials. Inspiration of this kind is a good thing. If you don't like it don't buy it...simples.

Andrew, you've managed to do it again in the same thread I said, "Morgan are quoting over 200bhp for the +4 SS 2.0 and as has been discussed on this thread, that isn't close to the top output of a tuned 2.0" Not, 200bhp is close to the top output

I'd be interested to see what the power to weight ratio is on the +4 SS vs the Roadster. The Escape V6 isn't a light engine and develops 226bhp. Simon, I would say ptw ratio is not the best way to compare the cars. My plus4 has (had) 195bhp, so a "better" power to weight ration than a plus8, and very close to the roadster but completely different cars to drive. Morgan are quoting over 200bhp for the +4 SS 2.0 and as has been discussed on this thread, that isn't close to the top output of a tuned 2.0. I am afraid you lost me here, if 200+ means not much over 200, that IS very close to what you can get from a tuned 2L. Again it would be the way it delivers them that would make the difference. As easter says, we would need to see a torque curve (and factor in the gearing differences). Or better still, we should all drive the SS, 4/4, +4 and roadster. If MMC can organise a track day and supply the cars.... we can all have an informed opinion and even agree for a change. Anyway, hats off to MMC for producing it. It looks gorgeous, and I am sure someone on this forum will get to drive it and inform us how it compares to other trads. Cheers J Cheers J
