Bringing it home... Runner and driver but various body woes :-)

Another lovely day here (if slightly breezy) ...... dummy build progressing ..... once eveything has been jiggled and persuaded into their mutual best-fit and various holes drilled for their permanent mounting things can start to be stripped and painted ....just about all the mechanical parts are prepped and prettied up ready to go back on .....bodywork will be the last push.

I find the most important thing for any rebuild is an uncluttered and surgically clean working environment ..... tidy mind, tidy workshop is my motto!!

Good to see that you are making Progress K... I have seen garages with wall units better than those in some fancy kitchens and shiny spanners set out like a cutlery display, but have never worked in one, though your garage seems far tidier than mine ever was when I had a project on the go... The sight of the gas bottle had me going until the blue rope caught my eye... That old compressor looks a cracker too, they don`t make em like that any more.. (-: Power to your elbow..

Yep, the gas bottle is well fastened to the wall!! ..... the 'compressor' is a Lister CS 8/1 generator....4.7kw ....it powers my heavy workshop stuff as needed because the rest the house runs off-grid

Yep ...the joys of retirement (and also liking to have either a spanner or a knife and fork in my hand at any given time ) ...... really enjoying my giant mecanno set! ...... when you have 50 acres of woods your choice of fuel is a no-brainer ..... currently running a three year stock, so plenty dry enough to satisfy the upcoming new rules for woodburners....my chainsawing gear is in the back there somewhere for another year, always fell and log midwinter to keep the resin content low. Really looking forward to driving it now it's vaguely car shaped.

Ray ... you could be right yet! .... without a doubt the wood frame is the bit of the job that's furthest outside my comfort zone ..... I'm having to do things an odd way round ...originally the frame would be built and the body panels made over it ....I have the body mostly intact and , having made the wood parts as closely to the old rotten bits as possible I'm having to 'fit' the wood to the existing panels as I go along....I keep telling myself there are only three dimensions in the physical world, so how hard can it be!!

Dummy build progressing ..... has been testing to fine tune the new woodwork to the existing body panels so I can patch the rusted sections rather than replace the whole thing ..... didn't fancy hand-making a new scuttle from scratch!!




Just some fine tweeking then it can be screwed and glued ..... just need to find a way to teleport the chassis/bulkhead to the blaster while in lockdown ....ho hum ....still, not like there aren't plenty of little jobs to pass the quarantine hours
