Aston Martin Cygnet
During my walk to pick up a sandwich for lunch, I saw this new Aston Martin Cygnet. I wondered if it would look better in the metal than in the press shots; in my humble opinion, it did not. Perhaps it was the colour but it looked like an odious little econo-box which has been burdened with a Max Power bodykit, in the hopes of making it look like a mini Vanquish. I know they need to reduce the average CO2 in the Aston range but was this the only way?

Oh, and I tried to get SWMBO to buy a Nissan Juke (to no avail) to go with the Smart/X6/Aero as then I'd have the full set of 'ugly/quirky' cars they all are "quirky", but have powerful engines (for their size) and are PREMIUM the Nissan isn't and therefor she refused mine is buying a C3pluriel

I'm a great fan of Citroen and dream of re-enacting Ronin in a black C6 or outrunning the Jackal in a DS, though I've just been out for a pizza in a friends Evoque and it's a winner

A bit harsh Dave - I spent 40,000mls over 3yrs working and touring Europe in a Citroen Ami 8. Basically a 2CV6 with flat sides or another way powered by a twin horizontally opposed as in BMWerks bikes. These miles were covered with only an Exhaust and Handbrake disc pads being needed. It was great fun with it's cranky gearchange in the dash.My wife took a long time forgiving me for replacing it with a Scimitar (plastic pig) in 1976 which was fun in a different way. I kind of know how boshly feels with his Swatch car - sorry Smart car - it is the fun element that is just not there in a normal safe Eurobox I guess the common theme in this thread is that we are all undoubtedly incurable petrolheads really and enjoy something a little left of mainstream. Not pretending to be something special when even a low IQ (at a third the price) could tell it isn't IMHO For the record the front of the Cygnet I find o.k. it's just that the rear is definately a two bagger !

Slightly tongue in cheek, obviously. But the traction and the DS were inspirational. The C/Maserati went a bit too far, then they seemed to lose the plot. The DS4 is a looker, no question about that, but for quirkiness, the DS3 takes some beating......

Me in a LR dealership last week (no, I've not won the lottery):
"Was hoping you'd have an Evoque demonstrator?..."
"They're not out until September."
"I've seen four. There was one parked in my local Co-Op yesterday."
"They're not out until September."
"Chap up the road has one on his drive."
"They're not out until..."
etc.

I was parking my black 4/4 Sport in Evreux south of Rouen last Easter when an elderly French lady came up and patted the bonnet " ah la traction " she said. surely praise comes no higher!

I know where the guy was coming from but he could have at least just said "we're not allowed one yet" instead of pretending they don't exist. Having said that, walking into the dealership was like walking into a morgue anyway so what did I expect...
Thankfully it seems the modestly-spec'd models don't lose much and are fairly well equipped - and will save a fair old whack.
