Now this thread is aimed at DaveW for comment. Last Sunday at Wilton House I saw a superb white 911. Immaculate is not too strong a description. The chap even had a mirror laid on the grass for the whole world to see the spotless condition of his aircooled engine.
It was with some suprise then that at the end of the show he wheeled the car (wearing soft gloves) onto a low loader to trundle off home. ----So my question is too qualify for any concours competition shouldnt the car in question be driven to the show---only a small point. I include Del boys runabout to show the other end of the maticulous scale!!

David - that is obsessive, but if that's his pleasure then so be it. In terms of concours events in general, MG events always stipulated no trailers. But people still trailered and unloaded down the nearest secluded lane. Some have used replacement speedos to fraudulently claim mileage covered. Some entrants don't fill with oil so that there can be no leaks................

All of that is ridiculous, but top level concours demands such obsession in order to win.

My view, and therefore the MSCC view is that trailering can be justified in some circumstances. If you have a prewar 3 wheeler, and the event is 200 miles away, is it reasonable to expect that trike to be driven that distance to enter the concours?

NO. So there are individual issues to judge on the day. I wouldn't want to see any modern four wheeler trailered, but I would rather have the entrant than ban trailering.

I never trailered, I always drove to events at normal speed and took the flies off when I got there. That was part of the pleasure.............
I also never took the wheels off or used mirrors underneath or used those poncy front end bra's to stop chips. That's just unnecessary.......

I agree with every thing that you said, some people go to those ridiculous lengths over here.
It seems to be universal, and I think that clear rules should be set, to make it fair for everyone.
I would rather see the vehicle arrive and displayed for all to see, trailered or not.
Certain types of cars have hundreds of hours of love...Ooops (money) and attention to the fine details spent on them, that contemplating driving it to display, when uncertain of the proverbial weather would be unthinkable.....
I loved the James Bond car, 3 wheeler, but what is that doing at a concourse event? Still nice to see it...

Had a couple of Reliant Supervan IIIs - Handling, speed and comfort would be improved considerably by use of a trailer...
