Skiing in Scotland

Still a chill in the air round here. Skiing closed obviously, but scenery still here and waterfall still turned on, the time will come when everyone can visit again but in the meantime, here’s what you’re missing.

Your not wrong HB, The only downside, it was a jeep and trailer job for a forestry customer, much cosier than the Morgan but I had a fair weight in the trailer so had to pay more attention to the road rather than gawp at the spectacular views. I refuelled in Ullapool on the west coast, normally bustling with visitors but as you’d expect, deserted at the moment.

Nice set of photos Ewan.
What's the building at the bottom of the valley in the first photo?

The building is listed on this 100year old map as a disused mine, there’s a footpath but we didn’t have time to go, something to explore another day.

This map is a great resource by the way, lots of interesting things to investigate.

I love looking through the old maps ..... one really noticable thing is the huge number of lost farm workers cottages ..... back in the day when work was done by strength of arm, farming needed manpower .... since the traction engine, followed by the tractor and JCB, hardly anyone works on the land by comparison .... all those little cottages fallen to piles of stones or pulled down and ploughed over .... got to love an old map!🙂

Thanks Ewan.
Keith, I'm one of those to blame - I do enjoy steam ploughing when the opportunity arises. Sadly this year the possible "Hands On" weekend clashes with Prescott, so you can guess where I will be smile
