Another experiment in photo posting, this photo was taken yesterday, if this works I will add earlier pictures of the build and bore you all.

Fantastic, it worked, now I can add earlier pictures if there's any appetite for them out in TM land. I might even do it there's not.😂

Proper raised & fielded panel and slim glazing bars, great work as ever Gordon

Finally at the second attempt the glazing manufacture got the arched units correct so they're installed.
Iroko cladding with maple logo on transom done, the iroko is freshly sanded but will turn a lot darker to contrast with the logo.
The boat name will be above the logo, also in Maple but not inlayed, a few reasons for this, it's easier and faster, I like the 3d effect it creates and should I sell and somebody wants to change the name it will be simple.

Next job will be the top handrail on the transom with rounded ends.

Thinking of leaving the transom without a door for better visibility, or maybe just a rail, or possibly glass. Any opinions?

With regards to the open section of the transom, it needs something if only for occasional use, it’s easy to fall overboard. If a wooden gate is too heavy looking, what about a nautical style canvas design, brass eyelets, cream with a white rope, maybe hanging from a drop in brass horizontal pole, that’ll be easy stowed and still give you a degree of safety when needed.

BM, I've done the Morgan factory tour, the quality of the work in the woodshop is excellent and it seems rare to have faults in this area (engineering dept, take note). I wouldn't enjoy the same job day in day out though, I need a challenge.

Ewan, you're right about the safety aspect and your suggestion is food for thought. I could create a channel in the centre of the vertical handrail return to slide a board in, say around 200mm in depth. What I'd like to keep is the good visibility of the stern from the helm and what I don't want are the two doors clattering together.

It may end up with a door yet, just well clear of the deck and it would fold 180° and get held to the transom whilst open.

Working on the curved handrail for the transom ends today, I thought I'd share another of my Heath Robinson ideas that turns a handheld belt sander into a static disc sander equivalent. Very handy for curved work.
