1995 Plus 4 In Dash Sat Nav
I thought you might be interested in this pic of a Beeline Moto sat nav in the dashboard of my 1995 Plus 4. I've installed it in place of the clock. It is actually designed for motorbikes, but as I've traded in my bikes for my first Morgan I thought I would see if I could make use of it in-car.
I've been using it for a few weeks now and I must say I'm impressed. It's readable in bright sunshine, unobtrusive and suits the dash appearance-wise. However, it is a Sat Nav Jim, but not as we know it. There is no audio, no map, no POIs, just an indicator for your next turn and the (very accurate I think) distance to it, plus a motorway exit icon and roundabout exit indicator when appropriate. So there is a bit of a learning curve, and as you are not spoon fed with the navigation instructions as you go along you need to pay more attention, particularly in town where multiple junctions can be close together. But it was an interesting little project, during which I learned a tad more about the Plus 4's electrics - including the location of the cigar light/clock fuse, tucked away at the back by the battery isolator rather than the in the under dash fuse box. Who'd have thought?
