Loose exhaust

Has anyone had this before?
Always had a strange rattle in the exhaust of Matt-Mog our 2014 +4. I thought a leftover piece of welding wire, couldn't see anything wrong on the outside of the exhaust.
But recently the sound got duller. Especially at idle. So check it again. And yes broken bracket.
A quick provisional repair was necessary. Under the workbench I found something that with a small adjustment could serve as a temporary solution.
In the second photo you can see that on the left side the fracture is stil fresh, no rust.
The other side must have been broken long ago. There from the rattle?
Let's see if Belmog can provide this support? Otherwise DIY I assume???

I have never known one to fail on my cars. BHM have them in the parts book.

Looks like maybe a fatigue fracture and no surprise if you have a silencer that resonates harshly. I had a bad one that broke the manifold down pipe weld so threw it in the wheelie bin.

It’s a standard part available from dealers. Check the condition of the rubber mounting bobbins and replace if necessary. They act as vibration dampers. Don’t over tighten the bobbins when fitting. Over compressing them reduces the damping ability.

All I would add is that whatever force fractured the original steel bracket may well fracture a stainless bracket much quicker, unless you make sure that there are no forces at play when you tighten everything up.

When a dealer fitted a sports exhaust to my Roadster, before I bought it, they couldn't be bothered to line up the rear mounting at one side and cut two slots across that bracket and bodged it with repair washers.
Thankfully that dealer is no longer around.

Thanks all.
Very interesting comments, will come in handy at the final repair.
Today did a trip with the lady of the house and even she noticed the difference, no rattling crackling or squeaking; sounded like a completely different car.
Was probably never mounted correctly; too much tension?
Will keep you posted.

How does that bracket unbolt? Are the fixings going into captive nuts on the chassis or do you somehow have to get a spanner on the other side?

No, just unscrew the nut, no need for a counter spanner in my case; But with Morgan, you never know ooo
