Thank you all for your kind comments, just back from holiday hence only just responding. Thank you RJW, my wife will be delighted with your comment about the garden, I polish AND drive the car, she weeds the garden, but I do my share.

I'm going to buy a cover for her now, car covers Ltd. seem to have a good product with their "Storm cover" but I would welcome any suggestions based on experience, she's going to living outdoors for a while.

No idea about car covers, but today I heard an advert on the radio for taking the car on the ferry to Ireland from around £100, sound like a good idea for trip in spring!

But it's normally an expensive trip, I've heard tell that the ferry from Belfast to Cairnryan is the the most expensive crossing per mile in Europe
