Boat build

Another experiment in photo posting, this photo was taken yesterday, if this works I will add earlier pictures of the build and bore you all.

Fantastic, it worked, now I can add earlier pictures if there's any appetite for them out in TM land. I might even do it there's not.πŸ˜‚

Thanks Keith.
Whitehills is a great marina and I have applied there, there's a long waiting list though with preference given to house owners in the village.
It's been even busier than usual recently with Banff Being closed I believe.

Somewhere on the Caledonian canal would be my preferred mooring and I have applied listing my three choices, it's a case of wait and see which becomes available first.
Scottish canals do contact you now and again to check if you are still interested so 🀞.

The build has been progressing, although a lot of unseen work recently.
First up the cabin ceiling ready to fix once I get insulation delivered and installed. Reeded H/W linings with a paint finish is the choice.

This is the saloon ceiling, same linings, same finish. Downlights installed by myself because no 2 son ( my electrician) has now left home!! Should have started the build a few years earlier. πŸ˜ƒ Again multifoil insulation to be fitted in sunroof then plywood painted.

This is the start of the furniture build, I'm delighted with the quality 🀣 maybe I should put it in the bodge thread.
Cardboard and ply mock up of the seating and table. Narrow stick on the sole indicates the line of the small double bed when pulled out. Thicker stick is the galley units.

Same, but viewed from different direction.

I've also got the navigation lights wired up and tested. Here's one at night with the deck lighting on as well.

Nice progress, as the left nav light works, perhaps you should treat yourself to a glass of Port smile

When I sobered up after following the above advice I made some progress on the build.
This is the main cabin, all insulated with multifoil, ceiling completed and walls clad ready for covering with foam backed vinyl.

And the saloon seating ready for cushions. I've got a local company to do the upholstery and am going to see them to choose material soon.
The seats push fully in to allow access to the storage and engine hatches. They also pull out further to make a double bed, using the table as an infill.

And a start to the galley units. This is the sink, next to it, the combined diesel hob and heater, then worktop area with fridge under and finally, drinks cabinet. wine

Lovely work. I took my wooden boat back to the yard yesterday to be winched out and looked after over winter. Always signifies end of summer for me. I’ll be using my aluminium boat now until spring. It’s the exact opposite to the elegance of the wooden boat.

Thanks JB, it's got distinctly chilly and wet in this corner in the last couple of weeks, I collected the hob/heater from the local chandler today though, another step in the right direction.

Fantastic work Gordon. Where did you get the design from?

Thanks SFG, I bought the plans from Glen L but you'll see it's changed quite a bit from the original. Mainly to suit the Scottish climate.
