Keith, your Mog looks stunningly true to style. Normally I'm a little reluctant to go with two-tone paint schemes, but your car looks just terrific and true to vintage style in black and red, especially because the black continues seamlessly in the interior and on the wheels. It's the subtle differences that make your car a true classic and mine a modern built 4/4 off the shelf...even if I love her very much. Moreover, having followed the development, attention to detail, a lot of work and patience, I still see the car as with completely different eyes. But the secret may be...who sees your 4/4 for the first time and has a heart for cars he/she will be captured by the charisma created by all the loving work.

You're very kind Heinz ... focusing on the 'heritage' aspects of the car was my intention from the day I brought it home ... glad you approve of my choices .... very easy to stray into 'Disneyworld Antique' territory .... my ideal would be for people seeing it to respond to it as an 'Old Car' without really knowing why.

I've had loads of fun rebuilding it ... the simplicity of everything has been a treat .... even the stuff outside my comfort zone hasn't put a damper on it.

As I've said before, it will remain an ongoing work in progress for some time yet ... but it's now driveable and I can hopefully take it for some shake-down spins round the local lanes in the next few days 😁

Very nice, I love it!

Not really an update .... but, I've booked the car into Allon White's near Cranfield on 17th October to have a new hood and tonneau cover made .... as previously mentioned, I'm going for a copy of the hood on the Pekin/Paris Rally car .... it looks neater than the 4 seater hood to my eyes and retains all the 'pickup' space in the back .... only downside is it makes rear seat passengers difficult .... but as we've both decided that carrying a Human in the back probably contravenes the Geneva Convention anyway (and we have no kids🙂) that's no loss.

As it's mid-october and by definition we have no wet weather gear for the car we'll probably trailer it down in the covered race trailer ... and, as they need it for a week, shoot back up to Yorkshire to catch up with family ..... hoping that when we pick it up we can break the journey home there as well and go out for a razz round the Dales along with my Nephew in his recently acquired TVR S2.

Hopefully with a functioning hood/tonneau we'll be ready for anything .... even if we don't use it much as we're both 'top-down' sort of people it will be good to know it's there.

I think your idea of fitting a hood in the "peking-Paris" car style is an excellent one. Aesthetically, it is a considerable improvement over the original roof & it increases considerably the luggage capacity when touring. Is it the 2016 or the 2019 car you aim for, however (the hoods were different)? The 2016 car (Scandinavian, was it?) was probably the prettiest one of the two, but the 2019 car had that "nifty" option by which you can attach the side screens next to the roof, giving it a pleasantly "adventurous" look and increasing stowage space as well in the process....

Giles ... it's the 2016 scandinavian car hood we're going for ... has a nicer profile and storing the sidescreens inside shouldn't be a problem ... we intend to make canvas 'pockets' and file them away behind the rear seat over the petrol tank.

Can't think we'll ever be carrying enough stuff to fill the rear of the car, especially as, if we're touring, we'll take out the rear seats and fit rubber covered ply boards in their place to make a 'pickup bed' for luggage.

Gets us away from the boxy look of the original hood
