Thanks Graham although an odd place for such a post. Getting workable image links from the Gallery seems to be flaky at best. I get the picture to display full size, open it in a fresh browser tab then copy that link. Far better to not use Gallery at all but instead an external picture hosting site.

Yep Richard you're absolutely right, I hadn't intended to post in soapbox but when I pressed post the damn thing all disappeared, later I discovered that it had appeared in soapbox and I couldn't move it to maintenance. so I gave up! probably All my own fault and a result of preferring spanners to keyboards!

Not sure why you need them?

A pair of axle stands would do just as well?

As Arwyn stated standard axal stands would be better and also safer, because the footplates of the stands appear very small. If you were to use a trolly jack to raise the rear end of the car with the crosshead lifted up onto your stands, the radial lifting action of the trolly jack would drag the crosshead stands over

If you read the other thread, it's to support the crosshead while using a hydraulic lift - the kind that lifts from the chassis rail. Quite a niche usage!

Thanks TBM,

No I wouldn't dream of using them to support a vehicle as stand alone (axle)stands as quite rightly they do not have a base designed to
Support a vehicle that could move and of course their minimum height with the top tubes shown is around 600mm. rather they are for added support when working at lift height, I have shorter tubes for a lower height say with axle stands.

My intended use was for added support under the front crosshead when the car is staying on the lift for a prolonged time or working on the rear end when on a lift ie. supporting the rear axle.
