Ferrari 488

Some of the last warmth of the year, I I’ve been itching to have a shot since it arrived last week. Slightly boring backdrops but rest assured, this this will be appearing live in some of the best spots in Scotland in due course.

Dry roads this morning, ideal for a zoom about.

She's a pretty boat .... without the derricks she could be a billionaire's toy.

Is she not a Brocher? ..... same applies though! 🙂 .... pricey beast, but undoubtedly pays her way handsomely!

Apparently it can catch up to 2500 tons in one trip, if you put that into artic trucks you’ll need 100 of them!

An undoubtedly beautiful vessel.....Though It does raise questions in the Luddite section of my grey matter......I can well remember Aberdeen harbour in the 60`s when I worked in the city for a couple of weeks, and also B&W images of fishing ports up and down the East coast where one could walk across the harbour on the decks of the fishing boats crammed within.... All those boat yards building fishing boats, fishermen, fisherwives and local businesses employing whole communities to feed the populace with fish, with money passing through so many hands...Unlike today where it seems the distribution of money may be somewhat more concentrated..?

Back in the 60`s I remember buying a box of freshly smoked kippers from one of the many small smoke houses that operated around Aberdeen harbour....and in what seemed no time at all, the smoke houses were all gone, and a more efficient means of creating kippers via a dyeing process (?) came into being, fortunately on my way back South that day in the 70`s, I stopped off at Arbroath, where I was able to buy a box of smokies from a small smoke house....For sure in much earlier years it was a harder life for all involved in bringing fish to the table, but I guess folk had a senee of place in a community and a sense of purpose, which it seems in the drive to find ever more efficient and safer and thus profitable means of achieving anything, creates it`s own issues for us all... Hmm..?

Methinks I think too much... I think need to get out more...(-:

These are still all family businesses at least, the wealth does spread locally even if those larger vessels are built abroad and we still build the smaller ( but still big) whitefish trawlers round the corner in Macduff.

Back on topic, a local chap has just won a Ferrari similar to mine this week and by coincidence, even though it’s not a common name, he’s also called Ewan!
Handy, I can blame him for any shoddy driving I might do……wait a minute, he might have the same idea!!
