Aero 8 S5 Dashboard removal
Hi Can any body help me please. I have a Series 5 Aero 8 with a Parrott audio head unit. This sadly is pretty useless as obsolete technology now, although radio works well enough. I have been wanting to replace it for a while but as it is not straight-forward I put it in the too-hard category. However, now the front passenger speaker has stopped working so I have to do something. It is either a speaker/wiring or head unit problem, given that I want to replace the head unit I thought I would investigate this side first. In order to do this I would need to remove the metal dashboard which looks relatively easy as there are 7 small screws seemingly holding this in but there are the 2 ventilation rotary controls (Heat and fan power) which would prevent the dashboard removal. The parts diagram shows that these controls are held on by a grub screw, however, I can't see how that is possible as the control knob is virtually flush to the dashboard (as shown hopefully in the photo) and there is no room to gain access to the spline. I have also looked numerous times to find a grub screw but none is visible. My question is how do you remove these controls? and if I need get them off with the dashboard would that give me access to the Head unit or are there hidden issues which by removing the dashboard leaves me in a worse position? By the way can anyone recommend a car audio specialist who understands how morgans are put together?

Check connections to passenger door speaker first. More likely to fail than speaker itself.

Hi Paulneal, sorry no. It was too hard for me so I have found a car electric/audio specialist working a mile from my house and taking the car to him in July. If he can get it sorted I will provide an update.

I recently had my Parrot replaced with a Sony XAV6050 The work was carried out at John Kleis in Reading. There was no need to remove the dash just the knee bolster section below. They even fabricated a surround which tilts the unit down to reduce glare.
