CX Tweaks
My suggestion for a phone holder.
The suction plate attaches readily to the aluminium plate underneath the glovebox and has not fallen off yet.
Also changed the appalling original exterior and interior mirrors for Librands items on my 2022 CX which I bought in April this year and am thoroughly enjoying. The external mirrors were already beginning to pit, despite the fact that the car had sent most of its life in Melvyn Rutter's showroom and being almost flat plate were totally useless, especially in motorway traffic.
The original interior mirror seemed only to give a view of the hood frame when the hood was up so that had to be replaced too.
Also fitted new bonnet stays to avoid decapitation. All these items from Librands which are not cheap but of excellent quality.
MY previous 4/4 which was four years old but had done a considerable mileage when I bought it was just the same. The mirrors on that car were very badly corroded and also totally useless.
It beats me that Morgan fit such poor quality peripherals to a car which cannot be called inexpensive!

Like a Harley Davidson wouldn't be a Harley Davidson, it wouldn't be a Morgan if you didn't have to junk something that was not so special on them. They are gradually improving things like the new mirrors, it just takes time.
I'm sure that the level of necessary customer development of the cars post the factory, is much less than in the past. Without these bits and pieces we have to replace, a whole cottage industry would die out. Yes, I know it's added expense ( just factor that in), but it's to be expected as it is a Morgan after all, which is part and parcel of the intrinsic charm and character of the car. But its rather nice bonus if someone else has already done it for you when you buy the car.
Having said that of course, it still can be at the time somewhat annoying having to fork out eg decent wipers, when for a few £'s more they could (as they do now) have fitted the better wipers from new. Morgan seems to follow improvement trends, letting others do most of the leg work for them to adopt at some point in time eg, wipers, easy up hoods, suspension and so on.
It's almost a right of passage making the cars slightly better than originally specified and supplied, for some that's a lot of the appeal, in that they can still tinker (to varying degrees with different skill sets) and personalise their cars.

isn't it alledged that Peter Morgan 's view was that the company provided owners with something that they could finish off ?

Although tinkerers are a small part of Morgan owners, reducing this aspect on the CX cars and also increasing complexity reduces the appeal to this group.
Probably of no consequence in the bigger picture.

Probably of no consequence in the bigger picture. I've always from my very first Morgan back in the 80's had them serviced and repaired by Morgan dealers, that aspect of the ownership (as with all my cars) has never really interested me, plus I know the job has been done by far more experienced hands than myself. Plus I know that I haven't got to go through the experience learning curve and my garage hasn't got a car laid up whilst trying to sort something out.So I can get my other cars/bike in a and out with nothing in the way, that's just me, and my priorities, in that if its in my garage I want it to be available to use when ever I want to. It's interesting the growing complexity of Morgans over the years, reading this forum and the problem pages and common faults, in my humble opinion once Morgans went fuel injected with all the ancillary controls and sensors etc, they have become increasingly more problematic and there is more a culture of having to bolt new components on than fix existing ancillaries.as used to be the case in the earlier days. Just the recurring issues like passing MOT emissions, often leads to component replacement and fitting, rather than old fashioned mechanicing my father used to do. Just my humble opinion. Even the art of diagnostics has changed dramatically since the early 1990's, with fault code readers being necessary to understand what is really happening. There has been some great engineering on TM, without question the bump stops, the work going on Montegue's Plus 4 to reshape the chassis and so on. Work Heinz has done etc to mention just a few, has been enlightening and rewarding to follow. So whilst the CX is more complicated, it's not really that different to some of the later trad offerings. Maybe the grease gun has lost its place in the garage.I'm sure the CX in its own way will lead to far more tinkering and fitting of components over time as they age and garage servicing costs become too onerous for some.and or people enjoy being hands on and doing their own servicing, once the cars are out of Morgan warranty period.. But there are few examples I've seen of, for example an oxygen sensor on a trad being repaired rather than replaced on a trad, why would that be any different on a CX. Very similar problems often reliant upon the same kind of solution/resolution. I suppose it all hinges on your own personal prospective.
