Got back last night from a short walk in the southern Cairngorms which took in the WW2 crash sites of two aircraft; a Vickers Wellington and an Airspeed Oxford. Both crashed high on Beinn a Bhuird, there were survivors from the Wellington but all aboard the Oxford perished in the crash or soon after, the wreckage not being found for several months after it had disappeared with five Czech aircrew onboard.
Thought it might be of interest to some of the aviation and history buffs that frequent this site.

The Oxford was burned not long after it was discovered to prevent it being confused with any subsequent wrecks, the Wellington was partly removed but mainly buried just down the hill from where it crashed.

Our museum has a prop for a Cheetah engine! There are a lot of aircraft wrecks on hillsides, navigation wasn't very accurate then.
