Sounds like you need some new dampers (no, not bread, shock absorbers ) over there Jeff. Cheers,

I have the large samsonite case with its own cover, and it's a very weighty thing to get on and off, and also fiddly to remove the cover, which covers the wheels on the case............
Apparently it's a common fix to securely attach a large old case to the rack, and put the luggage inside, and I have wondered about trying this.

Simmonds Straps with high level brake light ordered.. Based on the experience of another TM'rs experience, The Simmonds High Level Brake Lamp is not supplied with suitable connectors. I recommended a 'Y' piece made to fit into the harness where the Cobra plugs in. The cobra fits back in one side leaving the spare leg for the Simmonds Lamp. This is a pic of my one, however, it is better to have one leg made longer for the Simmonds Lamp to plug into. Long enough to reach the Simmonds Cable End above the Spare Wheel recess. This allows that leg be stored alongside the spare wheel when not in use (on a Strip of Velcro fixed to the cross member for easy access without removing the wheel). I carry a Small Hook home made from a Wire Coathanger. These are the connectors used in my car's harness.

Frank - we are planning to be in Salcombe from 14th to 18th April. When will you be doing the South Hams? Plymouth to Lyme Regis & Portland Bill is one of my favourite coast routes by the way.
