96 Club meeting at the Royal Chelsea Hospital

What a fabulous open top car day it has been. As a founder member of the 96 Club I joined our group with my roadster at our usual venue only to be told by Michael"Scottie" that at the far end of the line up was the new Morgan plus 8!! joy---I had test driven the first all black version just before Christmas, when I had taken my car back to the factory for a service.
What I had not expected to see this morning was the staggering orange red glow colour that seemed to vibrate on the car ---interior finished in black leather---super combination and a real eye catcher. I was pleased to meet also for the first time Jon Wells (factory designer) and Caroline MMC photographer. Both a massive credit to the factory in their knowledge and enthsiasm for the car which they amply conveyed to the many gathered.

I were sceptic about the front when I first saw it (just seen pictures so far)...but it is growing better..and I guess the growl from the V8 can make you put up with alot innocent

First picture below showing as it is, second with 10% bigger headlights and third with original size headlights but with added driving lamps (my choice to go if I had the "problem" cloud9).

Oh yes. With the driving lamps added that looks a whole lot better.

Now my sentiments exactly, (the lights should be larger in scale) and when I mentioned this important point to Jon he agreed that the headlights had come from the existing range of classic morgans whilst mentioning at the same time the massive costs involved in remodelling and re tooling a larger headlamp which the company felt understandably it could not committ too. In fact in my-not-very-humble opinion I think the space between the headlamps and grill should be balanced/infilled with a nice set of fog lamps----problem solved!! happy3

PS M3W just checked your photobucket submission----------great minds think a like!! thumbs
