When will it be ready for another airing JTL?

The miles 'per hour polishing' is a nice measure. I give mine the once over after every outing, so a couple of hours per 150 miles maybe. So my index is probably 75 miles per hour polishing. After a long run or one with not much road grime more like 100.

Very nice! I'd be worried about tailing it out on the road in case of stone chips!

Now then.......you are obviously a perfectionist...so how do you cope with the risk of scratches due to your bonnet strap?

Well, I do about 5,000 miles a year in the Mog, and my idea of a 'really good clean' is 20 minutes or so with a bucket and a chamois every couple of months. Once a year, before our trip to France, it gets a proper going over with wax, which must take me all of an hour or so. It never gets cleaned underneath at all. In between times, it gets a 5-minute wipe down with speed detailer.

I see concours cars like John's and Dave's, get all enthused about the idea of getting mine really smart, and then inevitably the next day I take it to work and it chucks it down with rain, so I realise that I just don't have the time or patience to be spending the necessary time on it.

Dave its just the engine I have been working on still the rest to sort out so I dont think it will be sorted out this side of summer , hence the grumpy me when I read about others enjoying their mogs and all the crap I write I cant write about rides in the mog unless sitting in the garage counts .

The belt had sheeps wool glued on the inside and I combed it to make sure no tiny bits of anything touched the surface it was always tucked into the engine when the bonnet was up . This Photo is from 1995 and the strap is in the cupboard and not used any more has been for a long while .

I am not the worlds most patient man my wife keeps telling me ( over and over ) but I find I can drift off into my own little world and forget my troubles whatever they are once I have a duster in my hand I find it very cathartic in one sence and testing in another to try and get it better than it was and its a challenge where I am not hurting or offending anyone . Give it a try you may like it

Now on number plates----I saw recently two I thought ideal for a morgan one was 2OLD (actually on an old 911)and the other was OAP1.

Yes Dave there are two of you in the club .
I always had a fancy for the reg FU 2 have done for years it would sit great next to my reg on an E-TYPE . Used to belong to Fiona Richmond a sex model ETC ETC in the 1960s dont look her up on the net unless you are broad minded .
Bought mine of an old mate in the next village he had a cracking collection of classics and reg plates sold everyone then took his own life straight after .
