M3W Modifications

Here are a few of my early mods to make the car more practical, and in the case of the steering wheel, more visually attractive [to my eyes at least].

The mudguard was made up from a bit of ali. I happened to have around, ideally it could be longer at the back, as mud is still kicked up all over the rear inside of the bodywork, however, I will eventually remedy this with a rubber mudflap, which should do the trick.

The parcel shelf was made from a bit of plastic facia board with car trim carpet glued on, it slides in between the chassis tubes and under the two vertical pieces of wood either side, it is then fixed with a wood screw into the bottom of the wood, easy, cheap and above all, invaluable.

Steering wheel is a big improvement. You got enough Jerry Cans there? wink

Mods are fabulous. The M3W has to be the current leader for 'Desirable objects 2012.' Every time I see one in a photo it looks just so right.

Is your boat out of the water?

Love the garage.

I can' get anything past you guys! Re: the jerry cans, they are full of diesel ready for the next tanker drivers strike, plus a couple of the small containers with petrol in for my lawn mower. Preparation is everything.

Hi Moss, yes the boat is out right now, I'm trying to fix a really annoying water leak from one of the windows, and don't want to put it back in until it is cured, although the way things are going, I may have to, just to get a bit of sailing in.

I know its only a reflection in your fantastic paint job, but I do like the 'Garage Door' corrugated effect shades .
Re the need for the Mudguard (almost an obvious ommision ), I wonder how much fly off muck will get between the drive belt and back sprocket? idea

That shelf looks great in the pictures. Almost like it was there from the factory. I didn't get what you meant from your description, but the photos made it all clear. Good idea and well executed.
