Just Getting Started
The wait is over......

We were finally able to make the trip to Melbourne a just over a week ago to take delivery of our blue beauty. The drive home went well with some admiring and inquisitive looks en route with a few people taking photos too. We encountered rain most of the way (showers and downpours) - so alas the trip was done with the hood up - gave the wet weather equipment a good test and all works well.

We were driving the 4/4 on a permit without number plates (all legal and above board) - we passed several highway patrols and all left us alone....however......just after arriving at our over night stop we parked underneath the hotel and were interrogated by a young police officer cop , who was staying at the hotel, about not having number plates nono . We played 20 questions and offered up the paperwork but he didn't want to see it....and then went on his way..... thumbs

Thankfully I managed to give the car a good clean over the weekend so all is well once again....looking forward to getting it out on the road....with number plates of course... drive woohoo

Nice color. Very close to the blue I have ordered for my new 3-wheeler.

Enjoy.

Lovely car and a great spot for a photo. In the background is one of Australia's icons: The Dog on the Tuckerbox.

For non-Aussies it derives from a poem about a bullock driver who had a bit of misfortune long before there were tar sealed roads.

As I was coming down Conroy's Gap,
I heard a maiden cry;
'There goes Bill the Bullocky,
He's bound for Gundagai.
A better poor old beggar
Never earnt an honest crust,
A better poor old beggar
Never drug a whip through dust.'
His team got bogged at the nine mile creek,
Bill lashed and swore and cried;
'If Nobby don't get me out of this,
I'll tattoo his bloody hide.'
But Nobby strained and broke the yoke,
And poked out the leader's eye;
Then the dog sat on the tuckerbox
Nine miles from Gundagai.

If you are wondering why the dog sitting on the tuckerbox (food provisions box) would seem to be the height of Bill's misfortunes the original line was said to be "Then the dog shat in the Tucker Box", which would tend to get a bloke down to say the least. Not to mention the nine mile walk through the mud to get help.

Great story, appropriate for Aus, could not be anywhere else!
All the best
Tony
