Oops, I guess I should have read my own advice first, here is exactly what I typed to help another member out.
For your avatar you just need the web address without the IMG tags. When you look at the list of links provided for you on photobucket, the one labeled "direct link" is the images web address with no tags, this should work for your avatar.
