Results wise it would have to be Michael Schumacher, but you already have my views on him ooo and as Cicerone rightly says, it is not just about results.

It's not so straight forward because the driver is only part of the equation. For example would Jackie Stewart have won without the Tyrrell Ford, Damon Hill without the Williams Renault, Alian Prost without the McLaren Honda... etc. etc.

Anyway, here goes... Jim Clark is probably the one for me. A gentleman driver, a true sportsman, and supremely talented behind the wheel of almost any car (F1, F2, saloons Lotus Cortina, etc.) A career tragically cut short in the F2 race at Hockenhiem (due to a Lotus failure?) before he could fulfil his destiny results wise.
