Oh, I should have explained better.

I was thinking about my new rwd daily (1989 merc 190e). I don't intend to use the morgan in snow - although I have in the past and it has good traction, with its narrow tyres and seats over the driving wheels - mind you the merc tyres are only 195's so maybe a couple of bags of sand in the boot would do the trick.

I live in Northumberland (which can attract bad weather in the winter) - and drive about quite a bit, I would buy some winter tyres, but a set would cost more than the car cost me. So it occurred to me that socks or possibly these aramid "chains" might give me a bit of extra grip if it snows.
