Crikey! Is he allowed to comment on your age? As I understand it since October 2006, it has been unlawful for employers and others to discriminate against a person on the basis of his/her age;
note the catch-all "and others", and in my opinion (I am not a lawyer) it seems clear he was getting close to discriminating against you.
Might not be good selling strategy but of course he can comment on age and take it into account in the premium. Thats what insurance is about - loading the premium to reflect the risk and part of that risk analysis is the age of the insured. Youth = risk.
Only thing they cannot now take into account is sex. Not whether you have it or not.
