Why not do what I did months ago, and use a flat piece of aluminium, gently bent to the contour of the rear tyre, fixed to the little bit of ali. already there at the front, and bolted to the metal stay at the back, I then fixed a bit of convenient plastic strip to my 'hugger' which drops down just below the level of the rear bodywork and stop muck being thrown up, both on the inside and the outside. All from my gash bin, but the ali. is more or less an offcut, so should be cheap and easy to source. And yes, there is plenty enough room to do this mod without worrying about the tyre rubbing the 'hugger'
