First of all, I hope that your wife doesn't read TM much. It sounded like you picked the wrong (right) bar to go to. Yes, Patong is definitely the "racier side" of Phuket. The island is as big as Singapore is, and a lot of development took place in the last 2 decades. It is still very quiet around where my hotel is, and very dull in comparison to your adventure. It would be interesting to hear your Bangkok stories.
