The risk resides with the manufacturer for 8 years though, which is more than most people will keep a car for anyway. It's just preying on people's fears rather than being any kind of semblance of good value. Most cars of a similar price point either include servicing or it can be added for a modest fee, how are people going to take to a new technology when they're being asked to 'lease' something as if it's not proven? Deceit, IMO, like being pushed an extended warranty after buying a dishwasher.
Then the resale value of the car will lie similar to a Fork-Lift truck, Nil value if the batteries are not deemed to be good or replaced recently !!!! The value in any passed Electric vehicle is in the quality of its Batteries.
Fork-Lifts....Hand Trucks....Milk-Floats....etc..etc
