Aeroman: I meant to comment on this earlier. While you are correct that solid spoke wheels were more prevalent pre-war, I've learned that we can never say never, so I would expect to see some exceptions here and there. But when looking at a Moto-Lita wheel it is so wrong that the holes in the spokes are only a minor factor. So few people are going to have any idea of pre vs. post war designs that it really doesn't matter much anyway as long as the wheel looks the appropriate style overall. Here is a picture of a '38 Maserati with a quite different wheel. I wouldn't swear that the wheel was original since others of that type car have solid four spokes, but it does appear to have been made for this car given the bolt pattern. It may be an acquired taste - It didn't strike me at first, but I've grown to love it for this type of cockpit.
