I'm not really surprised you got an unhelpful response but they could have been more polite about it. Morgan 4/4 uses the Ford sigma 1595cc i4 engine that has max power of 82 kw (110 bhp) @ 6000 rpm

There seem to be several versions used by Ford with various outputs, just how similar they are I do not know. One way or the other the engine seems to have a lot of potential for tuning.

Wikipedia has a good entry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_Sigma_engine The same engine is also used in the Ford Fiesta and a version is used In the Caterham in various states of tune (120,125 or 150 bhp).

A search in Google will reveal a lot of specialists in enhancements for this engine.
