From memory typical cost for me has been £600 -£700 for the annual service, sometime a little more if parts needed.

This is circa what I paid last year for a service at the factory. I don't have the bill to hand but will check tomorrow.
Unless you get hit by a hefty parts bill (unusual), and even then the parts aren't generally expensive, your figure of £2,500 seems excessive.
