Just for fun I've been doing a local survey of the fuel around my home. I've been testing for ethanol using a highly unscientific method copied from a uTube video trying to sell "Ethanol Testing Kits". I just made a mark 1/3rd from the bottom of a thin glass jar and filled it to the mark with water and then topped up with fuel to a mark at the top. Shake it up and hey-presto the ethanol mixes with the water and then the amount the water level rises gives you an idea of the amount of Ethanol in the fuel.
So far I have (in order of the most ethanol to the least..)
1. Shell Unleaded
2. Shell Super Unleaded (or whatever they call it.. Optimax or something)
3. Esso Super Unleaded
4. Esso Unleaded
5. Texaco Unleaded (very little ethanol)
6. Texaco Super Unleaded (none).
Having discovered No 6 I have now lost interest in testing the others.
