I have the benefits of both being short of stature and having a modern ("long door") car. So it's left leg in whilst putting bum on seat, then right leg in.
From experience, getting in a short door car can be a "challenge" as can getting out, especially if the car is parked on an uphill slope.
Definitely no grabbing the top of the windscreen though.
