I have seen at least one M3W with the gear lever forward have a sloping rear part to the transmission tunnel, but did that sloping rear become standard or is it an optional/custom job?

Although not looking as simple as the "rectangular" tunnel, I imagine it makes for a more comfortable drive with the forward-placed gear lever?
