Just got my car back from its first service and I have gained a canary too! Mine is coming from the engine area though.
On the other hand the steering feels much lighter (yey!) and the exhaust less loud (boo!).
The rectifier bushes have been replaced - they looked worn although I had no electrical issues - and I was given 3 spare ones in a jiffy bag to keep in the car "just in case"!
The loud metallic noise on acceleration is apparently the compensator, and it's a case of "they all do that sir" (shame, I would really have liked that to be fixed, sounds terrble).
So, time to chase Canaries around a hot engine for me!
