I've read a lot of griping by many, many owners about bump steer, but when we finally get a thread that had the potential to start a vigorous debate about the merits of a potential solution, the whole thing gets lost in the noise because the OP was a bit indelicate in phrasing his post. We should be encouraging people like Rivette to post the details of his fix, and then we can all weigh in as to whether it is crap, or whether it's something to consider.
Nobody has at any point suggested that there was anything wrong with the airing of the technical issue, or in the description of Mr Rivette's solution. This was of interest to most of us, (even those of the dreary 4 wheeled persuasion who like to share pleasant experiences they have enjoyed in their cars). The problem lay in the language and the tone of the post.
As Giles has so eloquently posted, airing technical issues and sharing possible home-grown solutions was not the issue (and the various other threads in that vein are testament to that); the ignoring of the terms of use of the site, and the continued decision to do so, are the area of concern.
It should also be added that in terms of engineering modifications to vehicles, this site will never knowingly allow those items to be placed within the sales forum (which was another breech of the terms of use). If Morgan owners on this forum choose to modify their cars, that is their decision; however, we cannot and will not endorse such enthusiast based modifications, for obvious reasons.
As has been raised on this thread, this site functions because of the spare time allocated to run it. In the past three days, far too much of that time has been spent dealing with this unpleasant thread; therefore, unless I am required to moderate another clear contravention of the terms of use of this site, I will not be making further comment on it. Everyone who signs up to use this free, non-commercial, site agrees to the terms of use; it is not the moderators jobs to remind them of those terms of use. The best part about this service is that those who believe Talk Morgan isn't run in a manner they agree with, or don't see value in the site, always have the option to leave.
Pistonheads has a Morgan section, the
MSCC have their forum and I am sure there are others; if TM doesn't suit you, I am sure somewhere else will.
