I doubt you could buy just "Teflon" hoses as they would not have the required burst pressure, the steel braiding will give the required burst pressure with a safety factor built in. The Aeroquip hoses are Teflon lined to to act as a chemically and permeation resistant liner and to allow some flexibility. Teflon is a Trade name of DuPont. The TFE mentioned in the Aeroquip hoses denotes the liner is made from (Poly)Tetra Fluoro Ethylene,the chemical name for Teflon. There are much better polymer liners than Teflon from a bust pressure perspective but they tend to be too stiff for a brake hose.
